Batman Arkham Knight

Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Interactive have dropped the latest trailer for Batman Arkham Knight, and it is an absolute doozy. “Gotham is Mine” features some excellent new in-game cinematic footage. In addition, some of the tremendous reveals got me even more excited about the game than ever before.

The two biggest reveals from the trailer are Batman Rogues Gallery members Poison Ivy and Firefly. Poison Ivy appeared as a boss character in both of Rocksteady’s previous Batman: Arkham games, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Firefly only appeared before in Batman: Arkham Origins. There are some Easter eggs and references to Firefly aka Garfield Lynns in Asylum and City, but he does not make a proper appearance. Firefly is an interesting character because he is an arsonist and pyromaniac with some rather dangerous tech, which makes him a versatile threat to the Dark Knight. I am happy to see Poison Ivy back. Her new design looks impressive, with the changes in her face and skin tone. Neither Poison Ivy nor Firefly were officially confirmed for the game previously, so the fact that the trailer drops the reveal of two notable Batman rogues right off the bat is huge news.

The trailer also provides some new in-game footage of the new designs for The Riddler, Two-Face and The Penguin. Essentially, the theme focuses on all of Batman’s greatest enemies combining their forces in order to kill him once and for all. The Scarecrow appears to be the head honcho and mastermind of the whole plan. According to Poison Ivy, The Scarecrow organized the meeting and came up with the plan that brought all the Dark Knight rogues together. I really hope Scarecrow is the mastermind so the plot will not be another tired bait-and-switch, like the route taken by both Arkham City and Arkham Origins. The new next-gen graphics, designs and character models look spectacular. Hopefully, the final product looks as good as the footage promises. In the trailer, John Noble certainly sounds like an excellent choice as the new voice of the malevolent Scarecrow. His speech to Gotham City is absolutely chilling. It harkens back to when Azrael told Batman in Arkham City that Gotham City and Batman would burn. Scarecrow looks ready to deliver on that prophesy.

Batman Arkham Knight finally hits the shelves on June 2. The game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
