<p>Speaking to <a title="Todd McFarlane Says “Yes” to Spawn’s Inclusion in Mortal Kombat X" href="http://gamerfitnation.com/2015/02/mortal-kombat-x-spawn/" target="_blank">GamerFitNation.com</a>, Spawn comic and character creator Todd McFarlane revealed that he did approved of the idea for the appearance of his Spawn character in the Mortal Kombat X video game. Unfortunately, there seems to be an issue with the character&#8217;s appearance. Spawn must be used within a specific time frame before the offer is pulled off the table. Hopefully the news means that Spawn could make an appearance for Mortal Kombat X. If Spawn does not appear for the game at launch, hopefully he could be available as a downloadable content character. Spawn is really a perfect fit for the game.</p>

<p>Spawn is a dark and violent character. He is a man who was sent to hell for his deeds in life. Even though Al Simmons was a soldier and righteous man, innocents were caught in the crossfire of his battles. He was sent to Hell and tricked into joining the army of one of Hell&#8217;s devils, Malebolgia. This made Simmons Spawn, gifted with a symbiotic suit. However, Simmons chose to rebel against his master and fight for the forces of good, setting the stage of an ultimate battle between good and evil. A character like Spawn fits right into the realm of the style of Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat involves supernatural forces fighting a battle for the dominion of Earth. Good battles evil. There are forces of the underworld and demons at work in Mortal Kombat. There are thunder gods like Raiden and demonic, fallen elder gods such as Shinnok. There are necromancers such as Ermac and Quan Chi. With that in mind, Spawn&#8217;s appearance and presence in Mortal Kombat X makes perfect sense.</p>
<p>Like Mortal Kombat, Spawn is a product of the 1990s. The heyday of the Mortal Kombat and Spawn franchises was really in the 1990s. Both franchises began in the early 1990s, so an interesting kinship exists between the two. The Mortal Kombat franchise was known for its dark and violent content. Spawn was a comic that pushed the boundaries for the type of content usually found in a comic book. Spawn and Mortal Kombat have experienced somewhat of a parallel evolution. However, I would say Mortal Kombat has had more success in essentially rebooting the franchise and starting over with Mortal Kombat in 2011. Spawn is not the juggernaut it once was at the height of Spawn mania in the mid-1990s. Still, the Spawn character is an iconic one with a great design, and I would love to play as Spawn in Mortal Kombat X.</p>
<p>Mortal Kombat X is due out April 14. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.</p>
