<p>It looks like Bungie is collectively acknowledging the player desire for matchmaking for the Raids in Destiny. In the company&#8217;s <a title="Bungie Weekly Update - 10/03/2014" href="http://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---10032014/en/News/News?aid=12243">weekly Destiny update</a>, Destiny community manager David &#8220;Deej&#8221; Dague addressed a fan question to fix matchmaking for the Raid gameplay in Destiny. Typically, there is no random matchmaking for Raids, which is similar to the Strikes and Crucible gameplay. Bungie wants experienced players who are already set up in a pre-existing group or clan to tackle the Raids.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, Deej writes his updates in a slightly awkward in-character way. However, once you cut through his Destiny universe stream-of-consciousness prose, Deej addresses that Bungie has heard the complaints, and the issue is being discussed. He noted, &#8220;We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It’s a start.&#8221; That is not exactly a resounding yes, but it seems that this is still an issue for a good chunk of players.</p>
<p>Honestly, I am fine with the current system. I would not object to a change to including matchmaking for Raids if Bungie wants to go in that direction. However, I can also understand why certain players would be OK with going into a Raid with a random Fireteam. It takes a great deal of time to find a suitable clan or team to tackle a Raid, and it might take more time than certain gamers are willing to dedicate to the game. Ultimately, for the sake of the longevity of the title and Bungie&#8217;s 10-year plan for Destiny, the company might have to make the change at some point. Destiny will have no shortage of competition in the coming months. So, if the issue becomes a major one, a change in matchmaking for Raids would not surprise me.</p>
<p>For the Strikes, the only thing I do not really enjoy is when a random player suddenly drops out at a tough strike or starts blatantly trolling. As I was leveling up, I admit I have dropped out of certain strikes when it got down to two people because the stress of completion without a third member was more than I was willing to bear at the time. Or, other players were downright trolling and being uncooperative. I am a part of two clans. When you are part of a clan and play with friends, Destiny can be an enjoyable ride. That is why I acknowledge that Friend-only Raids, instead of random matchmaking for the Raids, could be a good thing.</p>

<p>Based on Deej&#8217;s style, I am not sure how seriously Bungie wants to consider the matter. However, it is obvious that certain elements were sacrificed in favor of accessibility for the final product.</p>
