Mortal Kombat X Top 5 Character Wishlist

Warner Bros. Interactive recently announced that classic Mortal Kombat character Goro will be available as a pre-order bonus, playable character for Mortal Kombat X. Goro joins Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kano and Raiden in the roster of returning classic characters for the new game, which is officially due out on April 14, 2015. The regular roster will be divided by 12 returning characters and 12 new ones. In anticipation of the sequel, I have compiled a list of characters I would like to see make an appearance as playable “Kombatants” for Mortal Kombat X.

5. Kabal

Kabal has always been one of my favorite characters, going back to Mortal Kombat 3. I always liked that Kabal was originally a gangster who had gone straight, but had become horribly scarred. He had a cool look and an awesome mask. Unfortunately, Kabal met his end as a warrior for Earthrealm in Mortal Kombat 9. However, in this franchise, death is rarely final. Kabal was resurrected as a minion of Quan Chi. Ultimately, I would like to see Kabal brought back to the fold somehow and returned to the side of the Earthrealm.

4. Frost

Frost is from the Lin Kuei and is Sub-Zero’s apprentice. I loved Frost’s design and having a new female character with similar ice powers to those of Sub-Zero. Frost has not made an appearance in Mortal Kombat since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. It is time for a change. Frost has not had as much face time as others, so I would like to see more of her.

3. Jason Voorhees

At least one guest character can probably be expected for Mortal Kombat X. For the 2011 Mortal Kombat Reboot, it was Freddy Krueger. God of War’s Kratos was the guest character for the PlayStation 3 edition. The next obvious step after Krueger is the hocky-mask wearing boogeyman, Jason Voorhees.

2. Predator

The Predator alien is really the guest character I most want to see in Mortal Kombat X. I imagine that the only hang-up is obtaining licensing of the character from 20th Century Fox. It would be awesome to have Jason Voorhees or the Predator as a guest playable movie character for the game. Considering the violent gory content of the Predator film franchise, the alien hunter would fit right at home in Mortal Kombat.

1. Kintaro

Kintaro was my favorite boss character in the first two Mortal Kombat games. In my glorious Mortal Kombat youth, dealing with Kintaro was quite the ordeal. At first I thought Goro was bad. Then, a new bigger and badder version of Goro came along. I was disappointed that Kintaro did not get a playable DLC for Mortal Kombat 9, but he did make an appearance in the game. I would definitely like to see Kintaro make a return as a playable character for Mortal Kombat X.
