<p>The story campaign for Mortal Kombat X is going to take the franchise to some interesting and bold new places for the next installment. At the Electronic Entertainment Expo, it was revealed that the game will have a story mode that continues from the end of the last game, but also will has a 25-year time skip. The result will be new characters, and even the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Cage, Cassie Cage. After seeing what NetherRealm Studios accomplished with the 2011 Mortal Kombat game, I am excited about the new direction of the game&#8217;s story.</p>

<p>Mortal Kombat took the game back in time, and the story mode was an alternate retelling of the original game storylines of Mortal Kombat 1-3. However, now that events have been altered and the next game will take place partly in the future, it seems like the playbook has been completely thrown out. This is is a positive step for the franchise, considering its history. The idea of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade getting together and having a daughter is a very amusing concept.</p>
<p>That said, I am also glad to see the franchise is not abandoning the classic characters. Considering Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden were already announced, and Kano was confirmed at the 2014 Gamescom, it is clear there will still be a good chunk of classic characters appearing in the game.</p>
<p>The time jump element is an interesting way to redesign characters who are perhaps older, but still kicking 25 years later. Kano&#8217;s new, more cybernetic redesign looks tight. However, Shao Kahn is now gone. I am curious to see how that will shake up the status quo. Kotal Kahn is Outworld&#8217;s new emperor now, so It will be interesting to see what that means for a the story. Kotal Kahn is just another example of why the game looks so exciting. What will happen now that a classic villain like Kotal Kahn is gone? Quan Chi is conspiring with his master Shinnok to take over both Earth realm and Outworld. With the time skip in place, I am looking forward to how other classic characters are redesigned for Mortal Kombat X</p>

<p>The game looks like it will be more violent than ever. It would not be Mortal Kombat without heaping amounts of blood, violence and gore. Mortal Kombat X looks like no exception, and I look forward to watching parents whining about it on CNN. Mortal Kombat X is due out in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.</p>

Couldn’t be more excited. Mortal kombat has always been my favorite series.
this will be my 2nd MK game to buy …. can’t wait to see how it turns on the story mode 🙂
