The Top 5 Most Desired Wrestling Legends for WWE 2K15

3 min

With the release of WWE 2K15 from 2K Sports on the horizon, it is inevitable that fans will create their own wish lists or voice their most desired legends of wrestling to appear as playable characters in the game. Most of the marketing for last year’s WWE 2K14 was based around the inclusion of The Ultimate Warrior. The late, great WWE legend was immortalized in the game. Unfortunately, it came a short time before his tragic passing two months ago, mere days after he was finally inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

At this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, Take-Two Interactive debuted a banner featuring the first four announced characters for WWE 2K15: John Cena; Cesaro; Bray Wyatt; and Hulk Hogan. Thus far, Hogan appears to be the sole Legend confirmed for the game. While many WWE games have had playable WWE and wrestling Legends to choose from, here is a list I have compiled of Legends I would like to see in the game. Of course, Hulk Hogan does not make the list, since we already know he will be in the game.

5. Diamond Dallas Page

DDP 1

Diamond Dallas Page has been making waves as of late with DDP Yoga, but his career as a milestone performer for WCW also deserves acknowledgement. Believe it or not, DDP was one of WCW’s better and more consistent workers throughout the 1990s. He actually had one of Goldberg’s best matches as well. Sure, his run in WWE did not amount to much, but he still had runs as WWE European champion and one half of the tag team champions. DDP deserves to be a Legends character in WWE 2K15.

4. Big Van Vader

Big Van Vader

Vader may not have had as great a career in WWE as he did in WCW, but he was without a doubt a wrestling phenom, and without a doubt, one of the best big men in wrestling history. For some of the dark days in WCW, Vader was frequently one of the bright spots in the product due to his classics with Sting. Think of how awesome it would be to recreate the Monday Night Wars or classic WCW matches with Sting and Big Van Vader in this game.

3. Rowdy Roddy Piper

Saints Row - Piper

Once you think you had all the answers, Roddy Piper changed the question. Well, one big question is:  Will one of the major Legend holdouts from last year’s game, which featured a 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode, be in the game? However, there was no Roddy Piper, who participated in the very first WrestleMania main event against Mr. T and Hulk Hogan. Well, it’s time to change that with WWE 2K15.

2. Owen Hart

Owen Hart 1

While this is highly unlikely, I would still like nothing more than to see Owen Hart as a playable Legends character in WWE 2K15. Unfortunately, due to the longstanding issues between Hart’s widow, Martha, and the WWE, this may never come to fruition. However, I am still holding out hope that we can one day see Owen Hart as a playable Legend in a WWE game.

1. Sting

Sting 1

He is the icon. He is the franchise. He is the man known as Sting. After wasting many of his later years in the business in TNA Wrestling, Sting recently became a free agent. For months, we have heard whispers and rumors of a possible deal that would see Sting in a WWE ring for the first time in history. For basically his entire career, one of Sting’s defining traits was the fact that he never signed or worked in the WWE, opting to stay in the rival promotion WCW. After WCW folded, he eventually worked regularly for TNA from about 2006 to 2014. At 55 years of age, Sting (real name Steve Borden) realistically has little to offer as a regular in-ring performer for WWE. However, seeing him immortalized in a video game would be a great compliment to his illustrious career. To finally see an official digital and playable avatar of Sting in WWE 2K15 would be a dream come true.

  1. I haven’t played a wrestling game since Smackdown 2. But do the recent ones have Goldberg? Because that would be #1 on this list.

    1. Yes. Goldberg was a playable character in WWE 2K14. It included his classic entrance from the back and everything.

  2. This list must assume all the real legends will already be included. Hulk, Andre, Macho, Ultimate, Rock, Austin etc…

  3. you can’t finally put Owen Hart in the game and then leave out Bret, that would be an atrocity
