<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The same thing might happen if you were asked to name the largest island in the world. Technically, the answer is the good ol’ land unda: Australia. But, <a href="https://www.infoplease.com/world/world-geography/large-islands-world%23targetText=Greenland%2520is%2520the%2520world's%2520largest%2520island%2520covering%25202%252C175%252C597%2520square%2520kilometers.&;targetText=sq.%2520mi.&;targetText=NOTE%253A%2520Australia%2520is%2520not%2520included,continent%2520rather%2520than%2520an%2520island."><span class="s2">on a technicality</span></a>, you’d be wrong. Australia, due to its geographical importance, is considered a continent. The title of the world’s largest island goes to Greenland, which is part of Denmark.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Today, we’re going to discuss some underrated islands that are definitely worth a visit in your lifetime. Don’t worry, we’ve checked and technicality or not, they’re considered islands.</span></p>
<h3 class="p4"><span class="s1">Sardinia</span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Take out a map and look at Italy. You will immediately recognize the boot shape country looking like it’s kicking a football. That football is the island of Sicily and northwest of Sicily is the island of Sardinia. One of Italy’s 20 regions, Sardinia is a hidden gem amongst European travelers.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Once you’re on the island, you’d be surprised to find out why. The beaches are something out of a magazine, with clear, blue water and perfect sand. Driving around the island, you’ll find most of it untouched by human hand.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The island is split into two parts, with the northern part being more wild with its mountainous paths and green lands. To the south, you’ll find more cities like Cagliari, Alghero, and Castelsardo. Throw in the amazing Italian cuisine, and it’s a win-win all around. </span></p>
<h3 class="p4"><span class="s1">Iceland</span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Everyone can find Iceland on a map, but few people actually travel there. While it is slightly ticking up in popularity, the country remains more well-known for its follies like when a volcano erupted in 2010, stopping all transatlantic travel or when a few important government officials were named in the Panama Papers. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">All that being said, Iceland is a truly a cold gem. You’d be in the wrong if you didn’t make Reykjavik a stop. The capital is the perfect place to experience culture and get an introduction to the country. Once you’ve seen the capital, it’s time to head out into nature where the true beauty of the country lies. There are plenty of national parks, glaciers, and natural spas to check out. The Blue Lagoon is the most famous one, attracting visitors from all over.</span></p>

The island is covered in a large forest, full of wildlife and beautiful fauna. It’s also a must if you like hiking. The island’s main mountain, Mount Kinabalu, attracts people from all over to climb to the peak. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">You don’t have to be an expert to hike up the mountain, but you should plan at least a day for the entire journey. All three countries have worked together in order to best preserve the island, meaning it’s a great destination for eco-tourists as well.</span></p>

<h3 class="p4"><span class="s1">Seychelles</span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">You’d be hard pressed to find Seychelles on a map, as this tiny African country is located far off the eastern coast of Kenya. Despite being small, Seychelles packs quite a punch.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Ideal for a romantic getaway, the tiny island country is filled with beaches that look like they’ve never been touched. Much of the country is well-preserved, so you’re not going to be surrounded by tons of cars. Bikes are the main way to get around.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">While Seychelles is not filled with tons of amazing monuments or places that will wow you, being there is like slipping into paradise. You will also be able to see the large giant tortoises, the largest in the world outside of the Galapagos Islands.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">It’s a quiet island that begs you to walk along the beaches, trek through the nature trails, and swim out in the water. </span></p>
