Frost Murphy reveals how to speed up your MMA progress

2 min

Whether its business, leisure, or your favorite hobby, one thing is certain that progress is always sought-after. The same holds true for the world of martial arts. Whether you choose to pursue it as a hobby or to compete professionally, you would want to get stronger, learn faster, and advance as quickly as possible.  Be it business or martial arts, George “Frost” Murphy is a shining example of how sustained effort can take you places.

Frost Murphy is a renowned martial artist, having mastered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as Mixed Martial Arts. He was among the first generation of Americans who achieved black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Murphy is a successful entrepreneur with ventures in real estate, oil and gas, as well as fitness. Fitness has always been his most-preferred endeavour. He started training in 1997 and began teaching  MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kick Boxing, and other forms of martial arts professionally in 2008.

Murphy has competed professionally on the state, national, and international platforms, and gained significant recognition as well as experience over the years. Murphy constantly strives to push his own limits while training and honing his skills. He does his best to impart the same stringent regiment for his students, while discipline and dedication stay at the forefront. To date, Elite MMA has trained more than 10,000 students, many of whom have gone on to compete professionally. While pushing limits is a good thing, over-training can lead to fatigue and injury, which is counterproductive. To this, Murphy further added, “There is no shortcut to success. You need to train hard and be disciplined, but it’s equally important to focus on your rest. The majority of hyper competitive athletes are more likely to loose because they have over trained rather than under trained. People do this in all areas of their life… not just sports competition; business, family, hobbies. Less is more for hyper competitive people.”

Frost Murphy has made it his mission to help touch people’s lives through martial arts and the programs offered at Elite MMA. While explaining what made him realize this, he said, “I remember a lady telling me she was signing up for the classes because her husband was abusing her as well as her children. She wanted to build up the courage to divorce him and teach her children to defend themselves. That was really heavy for me as a young man. I didn’t realize what an important roll our programs played in the community.” That’s when he understood that he had found his calling in the form of his school, martial arts, and the ability to help people become confident and independent.

Today, Murphy is a successful entrepreneur, a professional martial artist, and a respected teacher to his students, while also being married with two small children. Whether its business, martial arts, or life, Murphy has proved that progressing faster and achieving goals is all about having a balanced life. “At Elite MMA we focus on all areas of ones life- Spiritual, Family, Friends, Financial, Educational, Mental and Physical. Neglect one and you’ll be out of whack!.”
