<p>Despite the delay of the consumer <a href="http://www.explosion.com/why-the-oculus-rift-has-the-upper-hand-next-generation/">Oculus Rift</a> to late 2013—if it arrives next year at all—the headset already has a plethora of games behind it either made exclusively for Oculus use or made compatible with it. The Oculus Rift enhances the experience of all of these games, and most of them offer something incredibly new to the gaming world beyond just the 3D headset. Here are five awesome games compatible with <strong>Oculus Rift</strong>.</p>

<p>The re-release of Doom 3, Doom 3: BFG Edition, will be available on day one as the first Oculus Rift-compatible game. Included with the game are the original Doom with all of its future add-ons as well as Doom 2 with the new episode ‘No Rest For the Living’. The game itself will feature improved graphics, audio, and save systems, making this bundle incredibly attractive to gamers both new and old to the series. Doom 4 will also incorporate Oculus Rift technology.</p>

<h3>4) Dream</h3>
<p>Dream intends to be less a game and <a href="http://www.riftvr.com/2012/09/15/dream-new-steam-greenlight-project-pledges-oculus-rift-support/">more of an experience</a>, drawing inspiration from the similar Dear Esther and community-built RPG Yume Nikki. It will focus mainly on an interactive environment with impressive narrative and an intriguing, flexible plot. Adding the Oculus Rift into the occasion makes the game into an impressive 3D visual novel with RPG elements mixed in. Puzzles and riddles fill the world of Howard Phillips, and how much you explore through his dreams determines how his story ends.</p>

<p>Combining elements from the developer&#8217;s previous games, Wing Commander and Freelancer, Star Citizen aims to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTIUytc9NPY">redefine the genre</a> and offer something new to gamers fond of science fiction. It appears to be a realistic flight and battle simulator and will support online multiplayer. With no monthly subscription attached and the promise of a ‘sophisticated storyline’ and ship customization, this game looks like it will be a favorite of Guild Wars II and Starcraft fans.</p>

<h3>2) Minecraft/0x10c</h3>
<p>Seeing a creeper in three dimensions might be a form of hell, but it certainly adds to the game’s immersion. Jeb and Notch have already announced that they intend to make Minecraft compatible with the Oculus Rift, and Notch went on to say that his in-development space exploring game 0x10c will also be compatible with it. While coding computer screens may not be the most exciting thing to do in 3D, adventuring through caves with monsters around every corner will add to this game’s excitement.</p>

<p>Montas is an in-development game currently gathering funding on indiegogo. Despite requesting funding, the game will be made whether or not it succeeds, and all donators will still receive their perks. The game itself focuses on atmospheric horror, and offers something unique to the first person survival horror genre. Unlike other games, where death means repeating a process and gathering items all over again, this game will use death as a means to shape the story. With beautiful visuals and music, this looks like it will be the best game for the Oculus Rift and a refreshing entry in its genre. Its trailer speaks louder than words, so be sure to watch it!</p>
