FR garments are made of using fabrics which are non-conductive to flame in nature. It protects you from any hazards related to heat, fire, plastic and chemicals. These clothes are safe to wear directly. You do not need another clothing in between your skin and FR clothing. Wearing that can be harmful to you. FR clothing is mandatory as per OSHA apparel requirements. If the employers choose not to opt for FR apparel, then OSHA can take actions against them.

You must have heard about primary protection and secondary protection when you are talking about Flame Resistant Clothing. We will walk you through the basics of these clothing. Therefore, to get maximum security out of it, you are supposed to wear well fitted FR clothing.

Otherwise, you can leave room for deadly hazards. As per rules you should wear FR apparel when you are working with industries that have hazardous working conditions. Maximum of the companies or employers who fall under this category do provide FR clothing.

But sometimes employees do wear those apparel, or they do not take good care of the outfit unless something big hazardous happens to them for not wearing fire resistant clothing. Therefore, today we will talk about FR clothing that works or not.

11.    This clothing provides insulation to protect from heat and resist breaking open which will expose skin to hazard.

12.    Cotton and wool is a good conductor of heat; therefore it saves you from fire.

13.    The outer most layers or the primary clothing should be fire resistant.  There are different options to choose with your FR workwear like FR hoodies, jackets, coats, bibs, and coveralls are smart choices. If you decide to wear non-FR clothing above FR clothing, it can exposé you to injury which can affect your exposed areas like face and head.
