It has been a thrilling week for World of Warcraft players. With the release of Mists of Pandaria a week ago, players have been busy exploring the new continent of Pandaria through quests. A good portion of players have also reached max level 90 and have been patiently waiting for start of raiding and the PvP season. Today, the 12th Season of PvP will start for players to test their skills in both Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds. The expansions first raid, Mogu’shan Vaults, is also unlocked today.
Season 12 is certainly the most game changing season, perhaps in the entire history of World of Warcraft PvP. First of all, a new Arena has been created for players to show their skills in, the Tol’viron Arena. This arena, similar to Nagrand’s Arena, is an open area, with the exception of pillars in the middle. This will most likely be welcomed on the Arena rotation, as Nagrand is a simple, yet balanced Arena. Season 12 is also fundamentally changing gearing for PvP. Two new stats, PvP Power and PvP Resilience have been added. PvP Resilience works similarly to how Resilience worked in the past, however, PvP Power increases damage done to other players, as well as healing done to other players in a PvP scenario. This change is to ensure that PvE gear will be weaker then PvP gear, which has been a problem in the past.
The first raid, Mogu’Shan Vaults, also comes out today. After an excellent leveling experience, many PvEers are excited to dive into these raids and check out more of the content that this expansion has for them. This raid, located in Kun-Lai Summit has six boss: The Stone Guard, Feng the Accursed, Gara’jai the Spiritbender, The Spirit Kings, Elegon, and Will of the Emperor. At the moment, these encounters are only available on Normal mode, with Heroic and the first half of Raid Finder unlocking next week, and the following week unlocking the last half of Raid Finder. This form of gating ensures that players will not already be heavily geared and have a strong knowledge of the fight before they even fight it on Normal mode.
This expansion has been a blast so far, and players of all parts of the spectrum have been waiting patiently for this day. Whether they are a die-hard PvPer who wants to prove themselves in Arenas, or a PvEer who wants to work with others to complete the expansions first raid, this week players have loads of new content to try out, on top of the already packed expansion.
