NintendoLife have speculated something very interesting indeed. Nintendo of Europe has recently tweeted that “Nintendo eShop will be down for maintenance from 3rd Oct, 8pm CEST until 4th Oct, 5am CEST”. They are also hosting Nintendo Direct, Nintendo’s official webseries of news and announcements, at 7pm British standard time. You don’t need to be Professor Layton to suspect we may be onto something.
Its possible that the eShop will be updated with a new app, feature or renovation, that will likely be announced and promoted in the upcoming Nintendo Direct episode.
There are no broadcasts scheduled outside of Europe, so since US and Japan won’t be in on the announcement, its unlikely to be anything to drastic. It is possible that we could be seeing Netflix finally arrive on the 3DS. That’s right, despite Nintendo’s promises, in Britain we still don’t have Netflix on 3DS! Hopefully that changes.
Outside of that speculation your guess is as good as mine, but we do know that the upcoming broadcast will focus on forthcoming 3DS games. Today’s episode of Nintendo Direct focussed on New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC.
If this does turn out to be a teasing coincidence, at least we may get a glimpse of new details and footage on the likes of Paper Mario Sticker Star, Professor Layton And The Miracle Mask and Luigi’s Mansion 2.
