Ever since smartphones became a widely-accepted format on which to play high-quality games, mobile gamers have been crying out for a truly immersive epic RPG. Currently, the definition of a smartphone RPG seems to be synonymous with dungeon crawlers such as Dungeon Hunter and the admittedly brilliant Bard’s Tale. Fun though these games may be, they’re just not really it, are they?
Well it looks like we don’t have to wait much longer for the definitive smartphone RPG, as Crescent Moon Games have revealed an impressive trailer for Ravensword: Shadowlands. While the previous game in the series, Fallen King, certainly hinted at smartphones’ potential to house immersive game worlds, Shadowlands truly looks set to deliver on that potential.
While the game’s only been officially announced for iOS, we got in touch with Crescent Moon Games and found out that the game will also be coming to Android. Crescent Moon’s Josh Presseisen had this to say:
We do plan on bringing Shadowlands to Android after the iOS version – we’ve been testing it on the google nexus tablet and a few others and it runs ok.
So it looks like both iOS and Android gamers will be getting their swords-and-sorcery fantasies fulfilled in due course. Yes, we’d be deluded in thinking that the game will be legitimately comparable to something like Skyrim, but it’s a step in the right direction. While the game looks great, it’s crucial that there’s something beneath the surface, with a strong story, deep character customisation system, and convincing NPC interactions.
