Its now just a matter of days until RE6‘s October 2nd release date, and Capcom are squeezing in one last trailer after the half-dozen before it to ramp up the excitement. The TGS trailer is now online, offering one final glimpse into the terror before it hits consoles on Tuesday.

Half of the footage we’ve already seen in the other trailers, but there are a few new scenes shown here. Catch some speculation below!

One scene shows Jake and Chris glancing at each other from afar. Jake, supposed son of Albert Wesker, questions as he looks at Chris “does he know that Wesker was my father?”. (RE5 SPOILERS AHEAD) Chris was the one who finally killed Wesker in RE5, and it will be interesting to see if a rivalry between the two develops. Perhaps if Jake will discover that Chris is his father’s killer, and Chris may harbour fear/hatred because of Jake’s bloodline. Since Jake is supposed to be a good guy, he might not care for his evil father and the two may overcome their differences.

Capcom have stated before that the three pairs of protagonist will cross paths as the story unwinds, and we already know two of the main characters clash as Leon and Chris point guns at each other. Another new scene in the trailer briefly shows Leon and Helena teamed up with Jake and Sherry.

We also see Chris and partner descending on an underwater elevator. It then shows Leon and Helena in a laboratory, reminiscent of the virus lab at the end of RE1 with experiments suspended in tanks in the background. Could this mean there’s a secret underwater lab, owned by Umbrella or another shady organisation?

Although I’ve discussed my concerns with RE6 before, Capcom sure knows how to create captivating and epic trailers. I’ve stated that I’m scared of RE6 not being able to scare me, but I must say that there seem to be a lot of horror and gory elements in this trailer. Alien-style egg-hatching, syringe bombs causing rapid infection, and the zombies smashing through the glass scene looks stunning.

Capcom have made no promises to fully cater to the horror fan crowd, but even if its not focussed on delivering tension and scares then at the very least I can accept it as a fun action game. The story also looks much more interesting and a lot less nonsensical than some of RE5‘s anime-style bullshit. Tuesday can’t come soon enough.

RE6 is out very soon on Xbox 360 and PS3 – a PC version is in development.
