It looks like Capcom has decided that catering to the fans requests is a good idea. Although it’s not a cemented plan at the minute, the creator of the 1998 smash hit horror title has came out and said that although the game is not being made at the minute, if the fans want it, then it will happen. That’s what he is saying anyway we have all been told this sort of thing before and it’s never came to fruition, but who knows maybe this time it’s for real.

After a video, “answer-and-question”  sesssion the  Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed the studio is not working on a remake at the moment, but the door is open in the future.

He also said :

“Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now,” Hirabayashi said. “But if the fans really clamor for it; if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration.”

With the upcoming release of Resident Evil : 6, on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this October 2nd (earlier than the planned release of November 20th) the fans are already in a flurry, but promising a remake of Resi: 2 will only stoke the fire of other “leaks” on planned remakes. So expect a great deal of ” Resident Evil 1,2,3, HD Remake” rumours.

Granted they would sell like hot cakes, this isn’t important.

Either way, this is a good thing. The last time the media acknowledged the fans voice was the Mass Effect 3 ending controversy. So this time we get to see the idea being poised on the creators side of the fence. Good things are coming if Capcom keeps this idea running throughout all the devs. How about a full upscaling of DMC and all the Resi games. Who wouldn’t want that?
