In a bit of an unexpected twist, Capcom distributed a Press Release, confirming the rumours and whispers of upcoming Dragons Dogma content. Even more surprising is the announcement of “Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen” which is a “massive expansion” of the existing Dragons Dogma universe.

The content in question are changes and challenges to pre-existing game modes, with the exception of Speed Run, read on for details on that. Whether or not Dragons Dogma will receive a sequel is, at the minute, anyone’s guess, although it pays to remember that the bundled Resident Evil 6 Demo was one of it’s major selling points, would the Sequel even have such a gimmick? Time will tell folks.

Capcom had this to say about the plans for the game.

“Continuing its commitment to support Dragon’s Dogma post launch, Capcom is pleased to confirm that it will be making new modes and content available in the coming months.

Available free of charge and scheduled for release before the end of the year Dragon’s Dogma’s million strong community of players will be able to put their skills to the test with the introduction of Speed run and Hard modes. Speed run will challenge players to clear the game as quickly as possible with in-game equipments awarded for those who clock specific times; while Hard Mode turns up the difficulty with enemies that are tougher to defeat, but with the reward of further equipment.

Looking ahead to 2013 Capcom will release Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen and we will be sharing more details of this exciting and major expansion to the Dragon’s Dogma universe in the near future.

This title is not yet concept approved by Microsoft.”

Dragons Dogma was a good game, not amazing by any stretch of the imagination, it’s a pity that it didn’t sell as well as it should have, and it’s quite the unappreciated gem, so if you see it, pick it up and give it a go, you just might like what you find.
