It was already official for WWE NXT to appear in the upcoming WWE 2K15 game for MyCareer Mode. However, the actual names from WWE’s developmental roster and program, NXT, to appear in the game are now confirmed. I have had misgivings with the lack of footage since the release of the game right around the corner, I believe the inclusion of WWE’s developmental program for an actual video game is a revolutionary and ingenious move. What is more? WWE NXTÂ standouts Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville. Recent NXT to main WWE roster Superstar, Bo Dallas, is confirmed for the game. NXT trainer and former WWE and WCW Superstar, Bill DeMott, will also appear in the game in some capacity. I imagine his presence in the game will be as a non-playable character (NPC) for MyCareer Mode, since the player’s wrestler starts in the NXT developmental program for that mode.
WWE NXT has become one of the most popular WWE TV shows among the WWE faithful. The weekly NXT show has delivered some of the best wrestling matches of the year and the place where many current top WWE Superstars got their first crack at the WWE, including: Seth Rollins; Paige; Dean Ambrose; Bray Wyatt; and Cesaro. WWE NXT is a breeding ground for the next WWE Superstars of tomorrow. Here are the top 5 WWE NXT talents I want to see make it into WWE 2K15 (DLC counts):
HONORABLE MENTION: Kalisto
The masked luchador is currently one half of the NXT tag team champions, alongside Sin Cara, in the team called the Lucha Dragons. Sin Cara will probably already be in the game on the main roster. Kalisto is one of the top, most exciting workers from the NXT roster I would like to see in the game.
5. The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor)
I admit this pick is a bit of a cheat. However, I put The Ascension here as one, since they represent a singular unit and tag team from WWE NXT. The Ascension formerly held the NXT tag team titles, and they look to be poised to a move up to the main WWE roster–sooner rather than later. However, the inclusion of an NXT roster for WWE 2K15 makes the addition of this team very likely for the game. The Ascension is a great, powerhouse unit, and I would love to play as that tag team.
4. Charlotte
Charlotte is NXT’s current women’s title holder. Besides that, she is the daughter of the Nature Boy, Ric Flair. As a member of the WWE NXT roster, her inclusion in the game is probably more likely than that of anyone else, assuming players can opt to choose to play as a female wrestler for MyCareer Mode. Charlotte has proven herself as a capable, improving worker and belongs in the game.
3. Kevin Steen
Kevin Steen is another independent wrestling sensation, known for his classic runs in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Ring of Honor, with the likes of El Generico, aka WWE NXT Superstar Sami Zayn. Steen stepped up his game a great deal in recent years, and he worked very hard to break into the WWE. He deserves a spot in this game.
2. Finn Balor
The Irishman Fergal Devitt, aka Prince Devitt, now joins WWE NXT as Finn Balor. Devitt was a tremendous worker in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where had a penchant for elaborate body paint looks, inspired by Marvel and DC Comic book characters. Devitt brings a strange, but awesome charisma and an incredible work ethic to the ring.
1. Hideo Itami
The Japanese wrestling sensation, formerly known as KENTA, recently debuted on NXT and has already made a big splash. KENTA wrestled for NOAH in Japan and is known for wrestling classic matches all over the world. He had a standout career in North America with the independent promotion, Ring of Honor, where WWE Superstars such as Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, CM Punk and Cesaro all made a name for themselves. Itami was seen at the WWE Performance Center with a WWE 2K15 shirt during a WWE 2K15 media event. How hard could it really be to make a DLC model for Itami? Many of his trademark moves, animations and assets are probably already in the game. Why do I say this? A great deal of his moveset was appropriated by the likes of Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, who are already confirmed for the game!
