Final Fantasy fans are sure to start drooling over Square Enix’s new e-Store offering. To celebrate Final Fantasy’s grand 25th Anniversary, they have revealed a hefty box containing none other than every single main-line game in the franchise – that’s right, from Final Fantasy I to XIII.
All games are held across several Playstation disks, as the majority thereof were originally released; with I to IX one PSOne disks, X to XII on PS2 and XIII on PS3. Of course, being the massive games they are, being preserved in these disk formats means that individual games remain on multiple disks (Final Fantasy VII had four disks on PSOne, for example). This means a total of 22 game disks! Not enough circular storage for you? Naturally, there’s also bonus content to factor in.
Additionally included is a special anniversary DVD which showcases 25 years of FF, as well as a two-disk CD with selected tracks across the franchise. Theatrhythm fans will know that this CD can only be comprised of pure bliss. There is also an art book titled Crystal Artworks, an in-game Mogu Mogu earring item code for FFXIV and a mini replica of Amano with a stand included.
Needless to say, this is a huge collection and you won’t be surprised to hear that the package weighs a whopping 11 pounds. Another obvious fact is that it’ll set you back a fairly high amount – the box is priced at ¥35,000 ($445). Still, this is undoubtedly a priceless purchase for any long-term fans. Pre-orders are available until September 30th, and it will be released on December 18th.
Despite XIII’s shortcomings, Square Enix certainly deserves a slow golf clap for its continued passion to keep the series going. Sure, some consider the franchise as a large cash-cow, but for good reason as the majority of titles have maintained a high quality standard. I’ll never forget the memories spent in Midgar. Here’s to many more magical years!
