The Mass Effect series will long be the subject of debate, mainly due to the ending of the series. Some fans found it an affront to their hard-spent time and money in the series, while others simply accepted it for what it was and moved on. It truly was a fascinating ride that built up some truly amazing characters over the span of three games and was able to squeeze emotions out of invested gamers, something that a lot of games fail to do. The last DLC for Mass Effect 3 was the “Extended Cut” version, which simply added some more detail to the ending of the game to try to appease the upset masses.
On August 28th, for $10 or 800 Microsoft Points, BioWare will release the next singleplayer DLC for Mass Effect 3, titled Leviathan. Leviathan focuses on Admiral Hackett running black ops to hunt for a creature simply known as the Leviathan, who had apparently been hunting and killing Reapers all on its own. A scientist on the Citadel, Bryson, picks up the scent of Leviathan and is found murdered by his assistant. This of course leads Shepard on a few new missions through new parts of the galaxy to uncover the secret of the Leviathan. So new places to discover and explore, as well as new parts of the Citadel are included in this new DLC. On top of that, there are seven new weapons which are usable in single player, so if you needed more firepower, you have your wish.
Will Shepard find his white whale in this DLC? You’ll simply have to play to find out. If you can’t wait that long, BioWare and EA unleashed upon the world a new trailer today, so sit back and relax and enjoy Commander Shepard hopping into a mech suit to go into the ocean and a lot of things getting blown up.
