It is late August and it is hard to believe that later this year we will be getting a new console from Nintendo. I mean Nintendo has been so quiet about their newest console the Wii U, it is hard to believe that the system will be released this year. We don’t know the actual specs of the machine, release date, or price. However, we now have a date when we might actually know about those things, on September 13 Nintendo will hold a press event between 10:00am to 4:00pm EDT.
According to the press release Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime will apparently tell the world ”how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment.” You have to figure this will be the full announcement of all the specs of the Wii U and Nintendo will also likely provide a release date and price for the system as well.
Most people are speculating that Nintendo will announce that the Wii U will be released sometime in November, mostly because that is when the original Wii launched. However, more recently there have been rumors that Nintendo is having some difficulty manufacturing the system and that it might be slightly delayed. Apparenlty the system might be pushed back to December internationally, but still be released in November in North America.
I am actually having a hard time gauging whether people are excited for this system or not, it seems split down the middle. Some people are hyped for the new technology, while others are waiting for Sony and Microsoft to announce their new consoles next year. Personally I will pick the system up because I generally buy new consoles. The funny thing is the game I am most excited to see is Lego City Undercover, an open world Lego game actually sounds like it could be a lot of fun.
So I want o here your guys opinions, are you going to buy a Wii U? Does it depend on the price or are you waiting for a new Microsoft or Sony console? Finally what games are you looking forward to on the Wii U?
