For those of you who had plans to play Rayman Legends on any other console besides the Wii U will be disappointed. Ubisoft have announced Rayman Legends will be a Wii U exclusive, despite the fact all previous Rayman titles have been multiplatform.
The news came after the game’s latest trailer from Gamescom was shown. The trailer was entirely Wii U specific and showed the console’s tablet controller being utilized.
The trailer really showcases the way in which the tablet will be useful in gameplay. The mock footage shows the player who controls the tablet will appear in the game as a green fairy that flies beside the other characters. This character will have the ability to interact with the setting so that they can help reveal hidden lums and remove obstacles for the other players. This makes the tablet an interesting feature to the game and gives players controlling the tablet a chance to be a part of the team in co-op play.
With the addition of the Wii U tablet, Rayman Legends will support up to five players. Four players can use the traditional Wiimotes and Nunchucks, while a fifth player can handle the tablet.
The story of Rayman Legends begins with Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies wandering through an enchanted forest when they discover an unusal tent filled with a series of fascinating paintings. While looking at the paintings they are suddenly sucked into the painting and this is where the adventure begins.
Rayman Legends now joins Zombi U as the second known Wii U exclusive from Ubisoft.
So, if you were planning on owning the next title in the Rayman series, you will also have to plan on owning a Nintendo Wii U.
There is no official release date confirmed for the game yet, but it is rumoured for a Christmas launch.
