Mantle update for Battlefield 4 delayed

Last year, AMD and DICE promised a patch for Battlefield 4 that will bring Mantle support to the shooter. The patch was expected last year – yes we can say ‘last year’ now – and as you might have noticed, it didn’t release. AMD has responded to the matter as a couple of leaked screenshots found their way out of a CES presentation, showing a supposed 45% FPS boost over DirectX.

The chip manufacturer was asked by Polygon for comment and said, “After much consideration, the decision was made to delay the Mantle patch for Battlefield 4. AMD continues to support DICE on the public introduction of Mantle, and we are tremendously excited about the coming release for Battlefield 4! We are now targeting a January release and will have more information to share in the New Year.”

Polygon adds that according to the representative, the reason for the delay is EA’s decision to halt work on all Battlefield 4 expansions until the game’s issues are resolved.

Now NeoGaf got a hold of a couple of screenshots that have leaked from a presentation done during the currently running CES, supposedly mentioning a 45% advantage for Mantle over DirectX. You can check out the images through the link.
