Killer Instinct, the reboot of the fighting game developed back in the 90s by Rare, will run at a steady 60 frames per second, as revealed today by the game’s lead producer Michael Willet and design director David Verfaillie.
“Technically we are running at 720p and 60 FPS. 60 FPS is another pillar of the project. Anything added to the game that doesn’t allow us to run at 60 is removed or optimized. Nothing would be more frustrating than need pixel perfect accuracy at anything below 60. It would feel sluggish and unresponsive.”
Killer Instinct is currently being developed by Double Helix and it will be released in three different packs, with each pack including different contents.
The first one will be offered for free and it will only include one playable character. All the other characters will have to be bought separately, with each character costing 4.99$.
The second pack is called the Combo Breaker pack. Priced at 19.99$ it will include the first eight characters: six of these will be available at launch. Players buying the Combo Breaker pack will also have early access to the other two characters once they’re closer to release.
The Killer Instinct Ultra Edition will be priced at 39.99$, including the eight characters of the Combo Breaker as well character accessory packs, character costumes and the original Killer Instinct game.
Killer Instinct will launch exclusively on Xbox One on a yet to be revealed date.
