It seems that everyone and there mother is preparing a next generation game before the consoles have even been announced. Today comes the news that 343 Industries is hiring for a next generation Halo game. A new job listing on their official site has indicates that 343 Industries is already preparing the next generation Halo title.

The job listing is for a graphics developer “to help create the current and next generation of game visuals in the Halo universe.” In addition, the job listing goes on to say “help us deliver cutting edge graphics technologies for AAA experiences” and finally 343 Industries ideal candidate according to the job listing will have “DirectX11 experience”.

The Xbox 360 doesn’t support DirectX11, but it has been rumored that the next generation Microsoft console will. This could also hint at a Halo 4 PC version that would utilize DirectX11, but at this point it is all speculation. So either the next generation Microsoft console will utilize DirectX11 or we will be getting a PC DirectX11 version of a Halo title, good to know.

In the past 343 Industries has confirmed that Halo 4 would be the first of a trilogy of Halo games they refereed to as the Reclaimer Trilogy. So we know for a fact that 343 Industries will be bringing us at least 2 more Halo games, and chances are those games will be next generation titles.

In the past two weeks alone there have been three more major job openings at 343 Industries that include a Game Designer, Creative Director, and Environmental Artist. Now this doesn’t mean the next Halo title will be released next year when Microsoft is rumored to be releasing their next generation console. However, it does mean that in all likelihood Halo 4 will be the last Halo title on the Xbox 360.

We have all known for a while that another couple of Halo titles would be released after Halo 4, but do you think it is necessary for Microsoft to launch their next generation console with a new Halo title? Or can a Microsoft console have a good console launch without a Halo title on release day? Because, I just can’t see 343 Industries being able to launch two very good Halo games in consecutive years; with the rumored release of a new Microsoft console next year.
