PES 2014, the latest entry of the soccer series developed by Konami, will be released as usual in a few months: the game will be available on Pc, Ps3 and Xbox 360. With the next generation consoles ready for release, many gamers expected the game to be available on Ps4 and Xbox One as well, especially considering that Fifa 14 will be released for them. Unfortunately Konami will be skipping next generation consoles this time.
Konami marketing exec Manorito Hosoda has revealed the reasons behind this choice in a new interview published by CGV.
“We’re not sure how quickly the uptake of the next generation will go. The fan base is with the current gen, and before moving on we want to make a good game with the new engine.”
Konami rep Jon Murphy also added that Konami is in a difficult position, way more than EA is: the company has been criticized in the past for releasing a next gen version of the game when they were not ready and they don’t want to repeat the same mistake. The team wants to make a next gen version of the game once they feel confident enough.
PES 2014 is releasing on Ps3, Xbox 360 and Pc before the end of the year.
