An old Sonic game has become available again on the Japanese Playstation Network Store. Most Sonic fans surely remember the controversial Shadow The Hedgehog, released back in 2005 on Ps2, Xbox and Gamecube.
The game stars Shadow, Sonic’s rival introduced in Sonic Adventure 2 as he explores some urban stages in this 3D platform games in search of his long lost memories. All the game’s stages have three different mission types called Hero, Dark and Normal: the completed missions determine the game’s plot and playable levels.
Despite a few interesting ideas, the execution was definitely flawed, with the game lacking the high-speed action fans of the series love so much. The gameplay experience was also quite different from other Sonic games with Shadow being able to use guns to fight enemies, as well as being able to drive many different vehicles. The game also has a local split screen multiplayer mode, retaining the same single player gameplay experience.
Shadow The Hedgehog has been released on the Playstation Network Store on the Japanese PSN as a Ps2 Classic: the game is now available for 1200 yen. There are no news on a possible western release: we’ll keep you updated if Sega announces something in the upcoming days.
