Electronic Arts are known for being one of the biggest game publishers in the world, kind of an evil empire within the gaming industry and they’ve been restructuring over the past few months or so. It looks like that trend of “restructuring,” which is most commonly known as layoffs, continues today as they have let go of yet another team, according to Polygon effecting around 20 employees. The employees affected were the Internal Analysis and Reviews team, which housed around twenty employees.
According to GameInformer, this was the team at Electronic Arts whose job it was to scour the internet and to monitor sites like Metacritic for trends, then to provide analysis and reviews to internal teams before the game hits shelves so that they can properly gauge how it will be received by critics and gamers. It might sound like an odd job, but most major publishers have similar jobs and departments, showing just how powerful those reviews can be. We’ll keep you posted with more on Electronic Arts and their layoffs as it happens.
