Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD is the first HD remaster of the long running role-playing game series and it may not be the last, according to the hints dropped by key Final Fantasy developer Yoshinori Kitase in a recent interview.
According to the Japanese developer, Square Enix may consider to release more HD remasters if Final Fantasy X HD is successful enough.
“We’ll have to wait and see if these remasters are going to be successful, first. If they do well, I think this will pave the way for more of the previous games to remade in an HD sort of quality.”
Kitase was also asked if he had any specific Final Fantasy game in mind for a possible future Final Fantasy HD remaster: he answered that Final Fantasy XII is the most likely candidate. However, since he didn’t work on the game, he can’t really comment on it.
Final Fantasy X HD isn’t the only HD remaster developed by the Square Enix: back in March the Japanese publisher has released Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix, including the first Kingdom Hearts game, Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories and all the cutscenes of the Nintendo DS spin-off called Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
