Even though Super Mario 3D World looks a lot like Super Mario 3D Land on a big screen, there will be quite a few new additions to the gameplay formula, with a good focus on the multiplayer action.
Siliconera has reported this morning that pretty much every action in the game will award players with points, pushing players to do better than the others in a single stage.
With such a competitive nature, it’s obvious that the available characters will have slightly different abilities. In this regard Super Mario 3D World has been inspired by Super Mario Bros 2: Mario is the rounded character, Luigi can jump higher but he’s slower than the others and Toad moves incredibly fast but jumps lower than everybody else.
Siliconera has also revealed some details on how the new Cat Suit works. The Cat Suit is obtained by touching a gold bell: with the improved abilities like the wall climb given by the suit players will be able to reach all the areas available in a single stage.
Among the stages available for play at E3 is a boss battle against a worm. The boss is defeated with the usual three attacks: continuing to attack the enemy will reward players with more points.
Super Mario 3D World will launch sometime this December on Wii U.
