Name some of the best and most recognized game soundtracks of all-time. You’ve no doubt thought of Mega Man, which arguably had the best soundtrack in 8-bit history. Every level had a different track, and every track was an excellently composed with a variety of different instruments, all representing the boss and theme of a level. In celebration of Mega Man’s 25th Anniversary, Capcom is giving fans a little treat.
Coming soon to Capcom’s E-Capcom online shop, a 10-disc collection of Mega Man soundtracks will be available for purchase. Each disc contains the music from a different Mega Man game, spanning across the original title and 9 sequels. The first six contain the original music from the NES/Famicom versions of the game, as well as the music from the PlayStation re-releases.
Of course, just giving you the 10 discs isn’t enough for Capcom, so they are packaging the collection inside of a metal E-Tank canister. All-in-all, it’s a great collection, all for the price of 14,700 yen, which comes out to about $180.
Now for the bad news. The collection is only available through the Japanese E-Capcom site, and it doesn’t look like there are any plans for a North American release. If you are willing to navigate the Japanese site, however, this is an awesome collection to have.
