Good news for Dead or Alive fans, Tecmo Koei released details today regarding both the Collector’s Edition as well as retailer-specific preorder bonuses.
If you’re willing to shell out the Collector’s Edition $79.99 price tag, you’ll get the game, an art book, a CD featuring the game’s soundtrack, a poster, and a bonus set of in-game swimsuit costumes for the entire female cast of fighters (sorry folks, no bonus costumes for the male side of the roster). The entire collection comes in a steel case and is available at GameStop.
Thriftier DoA fans can still enjoy the female fighter’s rather…liberal choices of attire if they decide to preorder the game from either GameStop or Amazon. Gamestop customers who preorder Dead or Alive 5 will get the “DoA Angels” costume pack which includes bonus white swimsuit outfits for Leifang, Hitomi, and Kasumi while Amazon customers will receive the “DoA Devils” pack which includes black swimsuits for Ayane, Christie, and Tina.
All debates on feminism and the portrayal of women in video games aside, a few extra skimpy outfits seems like a weak attempt on Tecmo’s part to get people excited for the game. But then again who am I to judge? As long as there continues to be an audience out there for the enhanced “jiggle” effect of certain parts of a female fighter’s anatomy, I’m sure people will find a way to market it….
