In a few hours Microsoft is finally going to unveil its next generation hardware. With the Ps4 already revealed, we can finally say that the next-gen is finally here.
Despite the impending release of next generation consoles, there are still a number of high-profile titles getting developed for the current generation consoles, with Dark Souls 2 being one of them.
Some of these high-profile games are actually getting released on both current and next-gen console but it doesn’t look like Dark Souls 2 will be one of them.
Yui Tanimura, Dark Souls 2 game director, has stated this morning on an interview with X360 Magazine that the team doesn’t currently have any plan to release the game on next generation console.
Tanimura: We understand that next-gen is coming up, and it’d be a lie to say we didn’t consider it at all, but right now there’s no intent to have Dark Souls on next-gen at this point.
We feel the potential for current gen is still there and we want to deliver it to current gen consoles.
While there may be no plans at the moment, things may change in the future since the team is really interested in the extra power and features offered by the next generation consoles.
Dark Souls 2 is currently being developed for Ps3, Xbox 360 and Pc. The game’s release date is set for a generic 2013 release but it looks like the game may get delayed into 2014, since the team stated not too long ago that the game was far from being complete.
