The interesting experiment of a television show-videogame crossover will continue as the Defiance television show has been picked up for a second season by SyFy Network here in the United States, it was announced today. Defiance on SyFy serves as the television branch of the Defiance brand, with the MMORPG by Trion Worlds for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC serving as the videogame portion of the series. The videogame portion of the series has received mixed reviews, but will continue to get new content as the developers claim that they have well over a million accounts created for the game now.
The show has fared a bit better, getting reviews that are at least a bit more on the positive side. SyFy’s decision to order another 13-episode season shows that the series and game will still have some life left in it for at least another year. It will be interesting to see how the game develops in that time period or if the game will fall to the wayside while the show continues on.
