One of the most anticipated games of the year Watch Dogs is also one of the games we know the least about. There are still some major concerns about the game, such as how story based missions will play out or can you play the game offline? Well today in an interview Dominic Guay, senior producer at Ubisoft Montreal cleared that last question up; we can play the entire game offline (outside of multiplayer I presume).
Guay’s official statement on the matter: “the game can be played completely offline if you want”. This puts to rest one of my biggest concerns for the game, that we would be forced to be connected to the internet the constantly even if you were playing single player. In the two major trailers for the game Ubisoft had demonstrated single player gameplay, where other people could just randomly jump into your game; which is why people were concerned the game would require a constant internet connection.
Guay did go on to talk about the multiplayer aspect of Watch Dogs as well, stating that their main goal is “to start breaching the wall in action-adventure between single- and multiplayer.” Watch Dogs is being set up as the first truly next generation experience, it will be interesting to see if Ubisoft can pull off all the promise Watch Dogs has.
