Here’s some disappointing news for fans of Capcom’s artistic, wolf-adventuring franchise. Last week we reported that the official Okami Twitter account was teasing a big announcement, which correlated timely with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu’s promise of an upcoming huge game reveal. This led us to speculate that a new Okami sequel may be coming, but unfortunately it seems that isn’t the case.
The same Okami account recently tweeted that the announcement is not regarding a sequel. Capcom Corporate Officer and Senior Vice President Christian Svensson also responded to a discussion of the potential sequel on the Capcom Unity boards, stating that the announcement is likely only relevant to those in Japan: “Whatever it is, it’s likely only in Japan… I’ve got no details on what they were referring to (but as has been stated, whatever it is, it’s not a game).”
That said, the announcement is still set for next week. Even if it is Japan-only, it could later become relevant for other territories later on – though the best we can hope for at this stage probably a port of some kind.
