When Konami unveiled the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection, a lot of fans were excited to get a package that contained all of the Metal Gear Solid games, but a select group of fans weren’t so excited as the rest. Xbox 360 owners were a bit disappointed with the PS3 only package, but it looks like Hideo Kojima had a simple reason for not including it on the Xbox 360.
Metal Gear Solid 4 was the only reason why the package isn’t available on the Xbox 360, because the game was a PS3 exclusive. Kojima pointed out on his radio show that it would take too much work to port the game over to the Xbox, because of the massive amounts of data in MGS4.
“I’m sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn’t being released, because an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasn’t gone on sale,” Kojima said. “To explain the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous.” It would take up to seven DVDs for the game to reach the Xbox 360, a cost Kojima doesn’t want to take on.
“I want to put it out [on Xbox 360],” Kojima continued. “But we won’t be releasing it. “When the next Xbox console [comes out], maybe we can release it [The Legacy Collection]. If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it’s not The Legacy Collection.”
