Square have been doing their best to make up for what many consider a misstep in Final Fantasy XIV back in 2010. As a result of the negative criticism that Final Fantasy XIV earned, Square have been doing their best to ensure that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn does everything right for fans, which includes a new game engine, improved server structure, a new story and improved gameplay and interface. The plan right now is for Square to launch Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to be available at the end of the year, but to run a closed beta this summer to ensure that the game will be well-received.
We heard yesterday that they would indeed be running this beta in June, with Square issuing a release today confirming those details as well as providing details for those who wish to sign up for the beta. Gamers looking to take part in the Beta from Europe can click on this link, while those in North America can click on this one. Those with a Final Fantasy XIII account on PS3 will be given priority access to the beta, but even if you don’t, it doesn’t hurt to throw your name into the hat.
