The name Tomba! has popped up on Explosion.com quite a bit, recognized by a lot of us writers as a memorable classic from the early PlayStation days. Developed by Whoopee Camp and released back in 1997, Tomba! was a unique side-scrolling adventure game featuring a pink-haired hero on a quest to retrieve his grandfather’s bracelet from an army of evil pigs. Yes, you read that correctly. Players earn SP points by completing the various quests throughout the open-world, gaining new abilities that help to access new locations.
Finally, Sony and Monkeypaw Games have revealed that this often-overlooked gem is coming to PSN via the PSone Classics. Hopefully the title will also be available on the Vita, as Tomba! would make the perfect game for a handheld. While Tomba! is often regarded as one of the best games for the PlayStation console, sales numbers were fairly low. The game quickly became a cult classic, and an official sequel was eventually released. Whoopee Camp disbanded shortly after its release, however, in 2000. The games have become quite rare, these days, sometimes selling for $60-$200 on eBay.

Tomba! will be released on PSN on Tuesday, June 19.
