BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is the third entry of the BlazBlue series developed by Arc System Works. The new 2D fighter takes place right after the ending of Contunuum Shift, continuing to tell the story of the many characters of the series. The game was released as an arcade game last year and it will ported to Ps3 later this year.
Chrono Phantasma isn’t a simple upgraded version of Continuum Shift since a lot of new features have been introduced: a new mechanic called Overdrive has been added, replacing the Gold Bursts from Continuum Shift. Overdrive will grant characters specific boosts and it will last longer if the player has less than full health. Together with many balancing tweaks, the game brings back two returning characters as well as bringing four new ones: Bullet, Azrael, Amane Nishiki, and Izayoi.
Some new information on the Ps3 version of the game has surfaced thanks to Famitsu: some details of the box art have been published on the magazine, confirming the obvious multiplayer mode for 1-8 players and the upcoming release of Downloadable Contents.
DLC characters aren’t a first for the series on consoles: Continuum Shift received three DLC characters as well unlocks for Unlimited Characters.
BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will launch in Japan during October. No News on a possible Western release.
