The Xbox 360 has remained atop the hardware sales in the US for a 27th consecutive month, outselling the Wii U, PS3, and Wii. Microsoft has quickly responded, stating that they were proud of the stats, and that they will continue to support the consoles with more apps and great games. Global Xbox 360 console sales now top 77.2 million, with 1.3 million in the last quarter. The console sold over 260,000 units in March.
Xbox 360 was also biggest platform that consumers spent money on, with $402 million dropped by US consumers on hardware, software and accessories. Microsoft responded with the following, discussing all of the great apps and events happening on the system. “Entertainment experiences on Xbox LIVE continue to grow as Xbox introduced its newest app this week, Flixster. The service, available for Xbox LIVE subscribers in the U.S., is one of the most popular apps for movies, allowing users to buy and rent thousands of titles, check out local theater show times and access movie scores from Rotten Tomatoes.”
The system has always been the top seller in the US, but other consoles really flourish in other regions, especially in Japan. The company has always suffered in that region, and it never really found a market in Japan, it just seems like Nintendo and Sony have that region all locked up.
