Microsoft hasn’t been getting the best press when it comes to their indie process, but it seems that one indie developer didn’t have a problem with Microsoft’s methods. Jonathan Blow (Braid) and Brian Provinciano (Retro City Rampage) recently came out and stated that Microsoft’s approval process was painful and difficult, with Blow bluntly saying that Microsoft treat’s indie developers very badly. The Behemoth, the successful studio behind Castle Crashers, was the only indie developer that came out and supported Microsoft, saying that they had a completely different experience with the company than other indie developers.
“We have absolutely no problem with Microsoft or the XBLA team,” he said. “We love working with them, and hopefully they enjoy working with us as well. I can’t speak for other devs that may have bad mouthed Microsoft in the past, but that’s definitely not the company that we are.” Ayoubkhan later continued, stating that, “You’ll always hear the negative side of things in the press, or from others, more than the positive aspects. It’s definitely a lot more entertaining to read I suppose.”
The Behemoth has made it’s living on the XBLA store, with most of the successful titles appearing on the XBLA, including Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers.
