The sad fate of former industry darling LucasArts is one that will be remembered for a long time coming, as many gamers have fond memories of LucasArts games over the years. There has been a persistent rumor recently that there was some hope for LucasArts, as industry giant, and Worst Company in America, Electronic Arts was considering adding LucasArts to its already immense portfolio. Of course, this didn’t happen and Disney decided to simply put the axe to the iconic gaming brand, in one fell swoop destroying hopes and dreams for future games or a return to form.
A representative from Electronic Arts has finally spoken out on the issue, and gone into detail as to why Electronic Arts was not going to buy LucasArts, especially not now. He highlights some very valid reasons, such as the shift at the top of the company, the failed launch of SimCity on the PC and some of the financial hurdles that the company was facing. The timing wasn’t right, he went on to explain that EA is not looking for any major acquisitions right now.
