After countless weeks of speculation, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that Splinter Cell: Blacklist will indeed be coming to the Wii U. There had been rumors of Ubisoft canceling the Wii U version, but those rumors were obviously false. It will be coming to North America and Europe in August.
The Wii U title will launch alongside the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 versions of the game, and they’ll all probably be pretty similar to each other, except the PC version of course. Blacklist will be available on Aug. 20 in North America, Aug. 22 in Europe and Aug. 23 in the U.K. Nintendo has stated that the Wii U Gamepad will have a lot of use in Blacklist, as you’ll be able utilize Sam Fisher’s tools, weapons, and you can also combat enemies and navigate the environments as well.
It sounds like Ubisoft is looking to take advantage of the Nintendo Wii U’s biggest draw, the second screen. I’m looking forward to playing Blacklist, after the first reveal at E3 last year, I was extremely impressed in the direction the game is heading. I know that a lot of the fans don’t like the more action heavy Splinter Cell style of play, but I didn’t have a big problem with it.
