The Call of Duty Championships has finally kicked off, and the pro teams have already begun to compete against one another. The tournament is occurring at the Hollywood Palladium Theater, where teams are competing in a prize pool worth up to $1 million. Activision is streaming the event all weekend long, and you can check it out on the Xbox Live dashboard. The tournament caused many users’ dashboards to lag, with basically everyone watching and tuning in. Activision is really excited for the tournament as well, stating how tournament shows the most dedicated and talented players of their biggest game.
“The Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox isn’t just another gaming tournament, it’s a celebration of Call of Duty and a recognition of the franchise’s most dedicated, talented players,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “We’re bringing Call of Duty’s massive player community together with the increasingly popular eSports movement. This is a great moment for the franchise, but also for eSports as a whole, which is only going to get bigger and better moving forward.”
The finals will begin on Sunday, at 3 PM Pacific time. The grand prize winner will take home a total of $400,000, with runner-ups taking home lesser prizes. You can check out all the information after the break.
