It looks like id Software’s upcoming title, Doom 4, will be getting revamped for next gen systems. According to the game’s publisher, Bethesda. The game is still scheduled to come out for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but it’s also nice to hear that the developers are starting to focus on next gen systems as well. This comes after canceling Rage 2, which didn’t sell all that well, and downsizing the DLC for the original Rage. This resulted in all of id’s staff moving over to Doom 4, putting all of the company’s efforts into another game in the long running franchise.
“An earlier version of Doom 4 did not exhibit the quality and excitement that id and Bethesda intend to deliver and that Doom fans worldwide expect,” Bethesda’s marketing boss Pete Hines told Eurogamer. “As a result, id refocused its efforts on a new version of Doom 4 that promises to meet the very high expectations everyone has for this game and this franchise. When we’re ready to talk about the Doom 4 id is making, we will let folks know.”
Hopefully Doom 4 will have bigger success than Rage, which didn’t do as well as id Software had hoped it would. We may see some new details on the game at E3, possibly a gameplay trailer.
