The Ouya is going to be an interesting case when it finally launches for the public this summer. The crowd-funded Android-based game console should be making its way to those who took part in the console’s Kickstarter campaign any day now, as it has shipped today to many backers, but the real test for the $99 game console will be how it fares in the hands of the general public. We will get to see what the backers who receive their early console say about the system, and without a doubt that will be important, but many of these people believe in the concept and were quick to help fund the system.
The real test will come in the hands of the general gaming public, with the Ouya having a public release date of June 4th now. The Ouya will launch for $99 in the US, Canada and the UK on June 4th. I’m still not really clear what there is to do on the Ouya just yet, as looking over the list of games available and set to be released is a bit underwhelming, to say the least. Especially with Ouya not supporting Google Play purchases.
