After the news about Yoichi Wada resigning as President and CEO of Square Enix, a lot of gamers started speculating if this resignation would affect the development and release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, especially considering how Wada was a strong supporter of the relaunch of the game. Given how the publisher will be undergoing major reforms and restructuring in its development policies, fans’ fears are absolutely justified.
Naoki Yoshida, A Realm Reborn producer and director, spoke immediately after Wada’s resignation: on the official Lodestone forums he reassured fans that the CEO change and the restructuring won’t affect the development of the game. A lack of recent news was mostly caused by the fact that the team is fully focused on the game’s development.
If anything, Wada’s resignation has increased the team sense of responsibility towards A Realm Reborn: the company is fully supporting the new FF XIV version and as a producer, Yoshida is more determined than ever to bring the best game possible.
So, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn development will continue without any problems: the game will be released this year on PC. A Ps3 version will be released some time after the PC version is available.
