Atlus has updated the Shin Megami Tensei IV Official Site and a lot of new details have come with this update. The game will come with StreetPass support through a new Digital Devil Service and offer over 100 optional “Challenge Quests”.
Demon growth has been slightly changed this time around. While they still level up with experience points and learn new skills as they level up, some demons will be able to change form once a certain level has been reached. This new leveling featuring is called “Ash Level Up”. The skills learned by demons through leveling can also be thought to the main character: once enough skills are learned, the main character will become a fully grown up “Samurai”
The Operating system is called “Burroughs” and it’s installed into the Gauntlet: this system is used for navigating all Samurai activities.
Optional quests will also be managed by the Burroughs system: Samurai Missions are given by people and various organizations who are trying to establish monasteries in the games world. Challenge Quests are obtained through the StreetPass feature: they are going to provide enjoyable Side Stories, completely independent from the main storyline and they can be tackled any time. With over 100 planned Challenge Quests, players will have a lot to do during the game.
Shin Megami Tensei IV will launch sometime during May in Japan.
