In a recent interview published on Videogamer.com Deep Silver creative producer Zlex Toplansky said that the team would be stupid not looking at bringing Dead Island games to other platforms, including of course next-gen consoles.

Toplansky states that there’s a lot of changes going on: things have stayed pretty calm until now and after the first Ps4 unveiling things have been getting hectic. “Every minute it feels like there’s a new announcement” said Toplansky.

Deep Silver has been able to create a good following for the Dead Island franchise, people who are really into the game. The team will not ignore this fact and is currently looking at a lot of interesting and exciting possibilities for the future. At the same time Toplansky doesn’t say much more, stating it would be irresponsible raising expectations now to only let gamers down in the future. Still, something new will come in the future and it’s most likely coming on next-gen consoles.

Regarding developing Dead Island games for Wii U, Toplansky states that the team didn’t decide to pursue Wii U development since they were going to keep developing the old engine with Riptide: to bring the game to Wii U would have required doing a complete port and the team was not up for it. There are no plans for any Dead Island games for Wii U yet but the possibility hasn’t been ruled out entirely.
