Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix was officially launched yesterday in Japan: the first HD collection released for a Square Enix game included the first Kingdom Hearts game, originally released on Ps2, the Chain Of Memories spin-off, released on Gameboy Advance and later ported to Ps2, and all the cutscenes included in KH 358/2 Days, originally released on Nintendo DS.
Some gamers were already able to complete the game and a surprise has emerged from the game’s ending credits: accompanying the staff roll are still pictures of Birth By Sleep, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded. Unlike previous entries of the series, this time gamers didn’t get a cryptic extra ending, but a not so cryptic tease which is not too bad.
If another HD collection is coming, it’s probably not going to be so different from the first one: Re: Coded was originally a mobile game, before being ported to DS so, just like with 358/2 days, we may end up only getting the game’s cutscenes ported. With the other two games, fans are in for something good, especially with Birth By Sleep, which is an incredible game: it’s one of the best looking Kingdom Hearts titles with a lot of interesting and well executed gameplay ideas. The plot is just as good, detailing the origins of one of the main villains of the series.
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix will be available this Fall in Europe and North America on Ps3.
